About

The International Symposium on Distributed Computing (DISC) is an international forum on the theory, design, analysis, implementation and application of distributed systems and networks.

DISC 2026 will be held in Rome, Italy on November 9-13, 2026. The conference will be held at the “Chiostro in San Pietro in Vincoli” of the Sapienza Engineering Faculty (Address: Via Eudossiana, 18, 00184 Roma RM, Italy). The “Chiostro” is a 4-minute walk from the Colosseum metropolitan station (a walking route can be found at the Citymapper).

DISC 2026 marks the 40th edition of the symposium. To celebrate this special milestone, the conference will include a series of festivities and special events honoring four decades of advances in distributed computing research and the vibrant community that has shaped the field. The technical presentations and the special events and festivities organized are listed in the program.

DISC is organized in cooperation with the European Association for Theoretical Computer Science (EATCS).

Best Paper Awards

The International Symposium on Distributed Computing (DISC) recognizes top research contributions each year with Best Paper and Best Student Paper awards. These awards highlight breakthroughs on the theory, design, analysis, implementation and application of distributed systems and networks.

The DISC Program Committee selected the following paper to receive the DISC 2026 best paper award:

• Non-Leaking Concurrent Objects
  Hagit Attiya, Rotem Oshman, Noa Schiller, Corentin Travers

The DISC Program Committee selected the following paper to receive the DISC 2026 best student paper award:

• Solvability of Approximate Agreement on Graphs and Simplicial Complexes
  Joel Rybicki, Yaroslav Verbitsky

2026 Principles of Distributed Computing Doctoral Dissertation Award

The award is sponsored jointly by the ACM Symposium on Principles of Distributed Computing (PODC) and the EATCS Symposium on Distributed Computing (DISC). It is presented annually, with the presentation taking place alternately at PODC and DISC. This year it will be presented at DISC, to be held in Rome, Italy, November 9-13, 2026.

The committee for the 2026 Principles of Distributed Computing Doctoral Dissertation Award has decided to share the award between two recipients:

• Dr. Diana Ghinea, for her dissertation “Convex Validity“
• Dr. Jovan Komatovic, for her dissertation “Optimal Byzantine Agreement with Little Cryptography“
